| The Story of First Rock Productions |
First Rock Productions was
founded in 2009 as a result of a meeting between a young German actor and film
maker named Sebastian Anklam and an American entrepreneur and former
music manager John McDonald. Sebastian and his brother Marcel Anklam
became passionate about film making while barely in elementary school. They
spent most of their free time making amateur movies at home for about 5 years
when they decided to get more serious about their film making.

in helicopter to film aerial scenes in Cibe. The chopper proved to have too
much vibration so always inventive, they built their own remote controlled
drone equipped with a camera to do the aerial photography. |
When Sebastian was only 13, and Marcel only
11, they joined with 13 year old friend and school mate Lukas
Kaupenjohann and decided to see if they could write and produce a feature
length professional quality film. They collectively studied all they could find
about scripts and screen writing and for the next two years they devoted
hundreds of man hours toward creating the script for a feature length teen
action film called Cibe.
With the script for Cibe
completed, they recruited friend David Wunderlich to become the Director
and Andreas Schornack as Director of Photography. Several other friends
were recruited to fill out the remaining positions in the film crew. With the
help of extremely supportive parents they acquired a professional grade High
Definition Camcorder, lighting, and other film making equipment. They were
highly resourceful. What they couldn't afford to buy or rent, they made
themselves including a working cable cam (See picture below) , dollies, even
their own remote controlled drone aircraft equipped with a camera for aerial
photography when a helicopter they rented proved to have too much vibration.
 |
| When they could not afford to rent a
cablecam, they invented their own cablecam shown above. It was used to film
several scenes in Cibe. |
They gained knowledge, experience, and
professionalism with every scene and they consistently strived for ever higher
levels of perfection. After many weeks of shooting, the quality of their work
had improved so much that they decided to scrap everything up to that that
point and reshoot all the earlier scenes. They worked on Cibe nearly every
weekend, holiday and school vacation for two full years and in July of 2009 the
filming of Cibe was wrapped.
In August of 2009 Sebastian
Anklam came to the United States and presented some of his work to John
McDonald a former manager in the music industry. He was extremely impressed
with quality of the film and offered his assistance to complete the film and
bring it to market. Sebastian appointed McDonald as Executive Producer. The
relationship flourished and together they decided to form a new company named
First Rock Productions to complete and market "Cibe", to produce more
films, especially films with an important message, and to offer their services
and expertise to those who have need for High Definition Video (HDV) production
for television, DVD and the Internet.
